No. The waterproofing comes from the base substrate (like BOPP or PET) and the lamination process itself. Both our matte and glossy laminates are 100% waterproof. Glossy is simply easier to wipe clean of heavy oils.
You cannot easily write on a glossy laminate with a standard pen (it will smear). However, matte laminates have a slight microscopic texture that accepts ballpoint pens, sharpies, and thermal transfer printing beautifully.
